{"replyTo":"","text":"Anxiety is an illogical reactive state a lot of us experience me included. A few tips here, but they may not work for everyone. First is to really think about the process step by step in your mind. Imagine what you’re doing. All that’s going to happen is a person is going to monitor your pulse while you sit still and chill. That’s it. No judging, no physical pain. Practice deep breathing with your belly (not your chest) and clearing your mind. Try to remove your emotions from the situation. Imagine having your blood pressure being taken and it doesn’t affect you at all. Imagine just being emotionless about it. Do the process over and over again in your mind and imagine yourself just not caring at all. It’s really no different than any other time. Worrying will actually raise your blood pressure. Maybe avoid sugary snacks or caffeine beforehand. Do something before you go in that you enjoy and makes you feel relaxed. Don’t listen to hyped up music on your way to the doc. Maybe talk radio, a podcast, stand up comedy, or jazz. And during the process, just remember to relax as best you can while imagining your heart rate getting slower and slower. Close your eyes and focus on your breathing and imagine something relaxing. ","replyToPid":0} |
