{"replyTo":"","text":"Don’t listen to the naysayers. I’ve been an O/O since 2002. A few observations. The ones who say it can’t be done, or they sold their truck and drive for someone else, etc most generally weren’t very smart. You can’t drive fast, overspend, or be lazy and survive. Buy a good used truck and never work by the mile. Own your own trailer. Work for a percentage company that takes no more than 10%. You don’t need a $50000 pickup. But you do need to put 5% of every paycheque into a separate account for emergencies. Get a good transportation based accountant. Get LTL every chance you can. Drive 65 or less at all times. {"replyTo":"","text":"Don’t buy a truck. It’s very bad right now. I sold my 2 trucks 4 years ago. \n\nFuel going up, parts going up, labor sky rocketed, tires sky rocketed. Oh and you can’t forget about insurance rates that just keep going up and up. \n\nRates dropped and very little freight right now. \n\nWhen you go home you still paying on truck. Somebody backs into your truck. Well you gotta pay for hotel room and wait on repairs as well as insurance company to pay for repairs. During all this you still have a truck payment to make with no money coming in at all. \n\nBest to be a company driver now. Safety bonuses vacation pay and then benefits. ","replyToPid":0}
