{"text":"Rand McNally vs. Garmin?\nI’ve always had a rand McNally but seems like each one I get sooner or later it has a power off spell, as in it powers itself off for no reason even though it has a full battery. Then when I turn it right back on the battery magically is low. Other than that no problems with it. {"replyTo":"","text":"I switched from rand to Garmin and am SO glad I did!\nrand gps doesn't care how long you are. so anytime I'd put that i was empty, it would try to route me through alleys and hairpin turns and stuff, as if I was a tall car.\nrand hasn't updated their maps in 6 years, so places like Dallas, that is constantly building new roads, rand will screw you hard. rand gps sent me through a millionaire mansion neighborhood in Dallas area when I was new. the look on the gardeners' faces at a semi creeping through the streets was priceless 🤣\nGarmin has made GPS for cars for decades, that are the gold standard.\ntheir truck gps is similarly outstanding, a little bit different to get used to, only takes a few seconds, then their interface is vastly superior to rand. \nI wish I never wasted a dime on rand, that thing is junk.","replyToPid":0}
