{"replyTo":"","text":"I’ve got a Garmin DezlCam and 2 Rand McNally TND-Tablets. Both leave a lot to be desired as far as routing goes, but usually the Garmin is more reliable. For example, if you set up for shortest time or distance, the RM will almost always pick expressways over state trunk lines even if it’s way longer. I’ll use it for calculating ETA’s so I can give the customer an idea of when to expect me. I had a 5-stop run one day. Stop 3 was in Fowler, MI and stop 4 was in Mt. Pleasant, MI. Instead of continuing 10 miles east on M-21 to US-127, it wanted to send me south 15 miles to I-96, east to I-69 around the north side of Lansing, and then north on US-127, about 4 times farther! The Rand will also have days where it will all of a sudden drop the satellites or show that you’re 100 feet off the road, which sends it into constant recalculate mode. And even though it has downloaded multiple map updates, it still shows most of Michigan’s interstate truck speeds as 60mph, which gives you inaccurate eta’s. I’ve contemplated getting an OverDryve 8 but can’t bring myself to drop the coin on another RANDOM McNally. ","replyToPid":0} |
