Made more money as class B.

{"text":"Hello all,\n\nLet me preface this by saying that I’m only 25. I got my class B when I was 23. Eventually worked my way to a class A this past November with a mega carrier. I run hard. I never turn down loads. Even the shitty ones. Fast forward to today, almost done with my first 30,000 miles, and I must say: I’m pretty shocked at how little OTR drivers, and class A drivers in general make. As a class B driver, home everyday, I was making around 700-1000 per week. I expected a big jump in pay once I went OTR and sadly that is far from true. \n\nI guess the point of this post is to ask: with the little experience I have what should I do? Is there a company that will take me and my experience and pay me more? Should I wait a year or 6 months? ","videos":"[]","link":"{}","pics":"[]","canComment":true}

{"replyTo":"","text":"It's the Insurance company's that got you trapped in working for mega carriers. without 2 or 3 years experience  most smaller more profitable companies can not bring you on board. Yes there are ways to work around it. I bought my first truck 6 mos experience. I said bought not lease big difference. look around your home see whos hiring there. Risky small companies will hire anyone to fill a gap. DO NOT BREAK THE LAW AND RUN DIRTY FOR NO ONE.  It will be all for nothing. Running containers, logs, scrap, or shaggin loaded trailers local can make 1000 to 1300 a week. IM JUST THROWING SOME IDEAS. CRAIGSLIST INDEED AND FACEBOOK got plenty of leads. {"replyTo":"","text":"If you dont mind living on the road stick to trucking. You’re green right now and are expecting too much to happen so soon. Put in your one or two years to get a feel for the industry. If you hussle like you say you do and can network well then the possibilities are endless. Do Canada, Mexico, dry van, oversized loads, sensitive loads, hazmat the list goes on and on. Im looking to get my commercial drone pilots license and move freight off the truck like that if/once that becomes viable. Or you could start your own company and literally become a millionaire. I have a friend that did just that. Now obviously that’s not typical but it can happen. Theres too many nuances to the job that you must learn on your own. I dono about class B but the ceiling for A is pretty high.","replyToPid":0}
