{"replyTo":"","text":"Ask for an advance on your fuel card. Take the advance and buy an atlas and gps. Alway check gps suggestion against your atlas. Check addresses received from dispatch against Satellite Photos on Google Maps. Make sure it looks like a truck is actually supposed to be there. Call shipper or consignee to confirm locations seen on sat photo or street view if necessary. Never completely trust addresses received or they could send you downtown to a corporate office instead of a DC. Preplan preplan preplan preplan preplan preplan. I don’t care if you have to sit at a truck stop for two hours confirming pickup and delivery locations and follow a satellite photo along every road you plan to drive down. Do it. I’ll do it to make sure I see semis on the road in sat photos. The gps WILL screw you eventual. Never forget to check its work, don’t take it as gospel. If you miss a turn and it recalculates, recheck your gps’s solution, it could have edited your route further ahead. It can and will screw you if you trust it completely. ","replyToPid":14754} |
