Problem is the real list is really long. You can google what you need to do, but that will be just to physically get it, then there is a whole slew of stuff you have to do to be compliant and maintain it. My husband is doing the majority and he could easily make it a full time job. Should get easier with time, the 1st year is pretty stressful though. Don’t listen to anyone who tries to tell you otherwise. We are doing it right and that is what it takes. Otherwise you are at risk of being fined and ultimately shut down. Had a friend who just started his this year, and because he failed to understand the ins and outs of filing his IFTA already had to pay a couple thousand dollar fine. There is a reason why there is an entire side of this industry that does nothing but keep you in compliance, for a fee. Then there is the booking your own loads, and if you’ve never done it? Well there’s another reason why so many new companies fail. So I’m not trying to totally talk you out of it, but just trying to lay out the reality so you don’t get in over your head."}

It will depend on the company wether you need a trailer. Many, especially larger companies have you use theirs. If a particular outfit doesn’t then you’ll have to get one. Either buy or you can rent. If you have the credit to buy then I support it because the rental will cost as much or more than a payment on a new one. Really you just need to get the particulars from each company. What is the pay, percent or per mile, plus any accessorial. What expenses are you responsible for (fuel, trailer insurance, etc) That can make a big difference. ","replyToPid":0}
