{"replyTo":"","text":"There’s several questions that you should ask yourself before becoming an owner/operator… 1. Am I willing to spend long periods of time out on the road. 2. Am I willing and able to wrench on my truck at any time of day or night? 3. Are you willing to bank at least 10% per pay check for those unseen disasters that invariably happen? If you can answer yes to those questions then your on your way to buying a truck. You don’t necessarily need a new truck, but have a mechanical shop you trust go through any truck your interested in and get quotes for any repairs needed and discuss these with the seller. I was an owner of a small fleet of trucks in the Canadian oilfield and after many years of working the trucks I realized that to make sure you’re making money the truck expenses had to be less than 25% of the net. That’s for; insurance, repairs, maintenance, fuel, service,(oil changes and parts for the service).\nI know that sounds like a lot but it’s better to err on the side more than less. Yes buy a truck and enjoy the experience. Just go into it with your eyes wide open.","replyToPid":0} |
