I’ve met owner operators who do business directly with a shipper with one truck, but they’re not always necessarily making more. The shipper also wants a good deal for themselves, so they’ll probably be taking a good portion of the money that would have gone to the broker if they had one. "}

That seems like an old-school method that probably had some validity back when there were no internet load boards and it was perhaps very time-consuming to sign up with new brokerage companies. For example, half of my loads are with one broker who’s providing me a very good paying dedicated load, but one of the ways I knew the pay was legit was because I was able to compare their rate with what I have been getting out of that area.\n\nI also occasionally get calls from some brokers I’ve hauled for in the past. More often than not, I end up getting a higher paying load than what they offered me on the phone.\n\nI think it’s really bad for new motor carriers to “trust” brokerage companies. ","text":"See that’s what I’m talking about, im not the only one paying attention to this mess. I’m just kinda baffled as to why???? Why is it plummeting, yes fuel going up, as we should have known once they say we can “unmask” pandemically speaking lol. The demand is still there and freight still has to be moved, but all of a sudden they want to cut rates to less than $2.50- $3.00 a mile. On top of that as I said before our newbies are taking the low pay loads and messing it up for the rest of us runners. We need them on the same page. ","replyToPid":428653}
