","text":"I know the method I mentioned sounds counterintuitive. The method, by the way, came from a fleet owner of over 100 trucks who buys used trucks from mega companies.\n\nThink about this. Let’s say your belt tensioner breaks in Montana. That truck won’t be going anywhere. By the time they get the part, you might have to reschedule your delivery appointment.\n\nNow the method is not for every single part on the truck. It’s mostly for anything that could affect the truck from moving. For example, bad shocks will not stop the truck from rolling. They will wear your tires, though. So in general you want to replace parts a bit earlier than usual to have a business that runs smoother. Less headaches."}

","text":"Yes, how long parts last can differ from truck to truck. On my truck, the water pump lasted until about 550k. The starter lasted about 600k, my first oil shock went out at about 600k, and my Detroit One Box at about 850k. I’ve met people who have told me theirs lasted much less. You have to use your best judgement as to when the part will fail, and then replace it before. I mean, unless you want to deal with it out on the road and pay a premium for a roadside service mechanic, or worse get towed and pay a dealer while they sit on your truck 5 days. \n\nI’ve got a very good paying dedicated load and I need to make sure that my truck won’t be giving me problems. ","text":"I have to agree with your point, these newer trucks are not as reliable as the older ones and harder to work on...     I believe they are made this way to keep the dealership parts and service department in business... I've been doing this for over 40 years and alot of this new stuff is unreliable and unnecessary... 👍🇺🇸🙂"}

766797 发表于 2021-05-10 10:51:40 n Montana is more services than you think all the log and cow trust needs services more often than over the road fleets....
","text":"Sure. I-90 in MT has some services, but no where near what you normally find on other parts of the country, particularly the East of the US. I know because I go through there often. I don’t see many trucks going through there. It could be that mega companies would rather send their drivers through I-80 instead of I-90 from Washington state and drive some 75 extra miles, so if anything happens, they can more easily find services and also the ability to do a repower if need be.","replyToPid":425053}

It only appears to report to the member who wrote the comment that someone disliked it. Hmmm.","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"Like I said, I go through I-90 often. I know my routes. I have a dedicated route from the East coast to the West coast. On my way back, it’s common for me to take I-90. Yeah, I also take the small shortcut on US-212. There are very few services on US-212.","replyToPid":0}
