{"replyTo":"","text":"drive as you would normally and don't use cruise control, disable all driver assist systems, make sure you have enough tread depth on your steers and at least 2 drives, same for trailer, the heavier you are the better, try to be heavier on drives than trailer. {"replyTo":"","text":"you always adjust your speed to road conditions..as far as driving in snow,fresh snow is ok until it becomes packed on the road (snow pack)then it becomes a solid sheet of ice...drive where it is fresh powder...that will give you better traction..also being heavy helps alot but not a guarantee.being heavier does help with traction...dont worry about other drivers..you drive what you feel comfortable with...but always go a little slower in inclement weather...never chain up...if you have to chain up its not safe to go...PERIOD!!! Better to b a day late instead of being flipped over on the side of the road and probably never getting another Truck Driving job...","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"Lots of decent advice here.  I would only add, there's dry snow and wet snow.  Dry snow is usually safe to drive on.  Especially when you are on flat straight roads.  Just don't get going too fast or break too hard and you'll be fine.  Wet snow on the other hand is unpredictable and you should drive slow and safe or just stop.  If it's below 20 I like to pull over and get out and take a look at how far until I can get out of the snow, as well as the snow itself.  If it's packed (means it's been snowing a while) or wet (means it will ice up suddenly) and I can't get out of it in less than a couple of hours, I usually shut down.  If it's 30 or higher out I usually just keep driving.  In between 20 and 30 is kind of best judgment.  But that's just how I do it.  Other drivers have their own ways.","replyToPid":0}

Usually looking on the side of the road let you know how much a stuck or packed onto the road if it’s not incredibly obvious. I also personally use The Truck Weather app. That usually tells me how long precipitation has occurred in that area and gives me a generally good idea. As you start to do this longer you will learn to look ahead and read the road conditions. I would say that if there is no warning to chain up then in general you can do about 70 to 80% of the normal speed limit. Possibly more depending on how good you are at reading the road."}

","text":"I suppose, but is it really worth it?  it will take you 2hrs at that rate to go what would normally be an hour or less.  Personally,  I wouldn't do that for more than an hour.  If longer than that, I'm shutting it down.","replyToPid":414866}
