{"replyTo":"","text":"well it's all about how many miles you actually do in a week. As a solo driver 3,500 miles per week is an extremely high number but very do able.\nIn my experience, I have found out that those offering a higher pay don't run as many miles. Thus making what others who do who run a bit more.\nSure you can chase a few more pennies (i.e. .50, .55, or even .60) but does (.06 cents more X 2,500 miles on average equals) $150.00 more per week, really make you happier or does (.11 cents more X 2,500 miles on average equals) $275.00 more per per week really going to do a difference. Maybe it will and maybe not. \nI can say this to you, to get the job you are looking for is easy. Company's wanting good drivers are a dime a dozen. Like some one mentioned above; they want someone who will take care of their equipment,drive safely, be on-time at pick-up and delivery, trustworthy and most importantly someone who can run. Trust me they will dictate how much home time you can actually have. \n\nI guess what I am trying to say is, if you really want to break out and make some real dough. Take the leap and become an owner operator.  You are already doing all the heavy lifting, why not do it for yourself. \nBecoming an owner operator is easier than you think.\n\nTons of companies in the business of selling semi's can let you jump into one and even hold the first payment for a first month or two. \nAll you need to do is find a company (you like and want to work with) hell even the company you are working with now will do, they will keep you running. \nHell tons of companies will even provide you with a selection of trucks for you to choose from. \n\nIt's easier than what you think. making the jump for me was the best decision I ever made. \nOnce you make the leap you'll learn most companies charge you 8 to 12% for dispatching you, giving you a fuel card for you to use, you use their authority, they take care of all the paperwork (i.e. tags, ifta, permits, registration, etc.etc.). \nI pay 10%, but I've heard of some who pay a lower percentage and I've heard others o/o who say they pay up to 12%. in any case you are now make a whole lot more $$$ for the exact thing you are doing now. \nLet me say that again. You will be making a whole lot more money for the exact same work!, you are doing right now. \nso you're like how much more? And some people will say yeah but you will be responsible for all the repairs! that's expensive. \nAnd for those who scare you with that, let me tell you that; they are right. Repairs are Expensive. No way around that! \nThat's why companies pay their drivers who take care of their equipment that .50 per mile or that .55 per mile. They also pay that to those who prove themselves with longevity. No one really takes you seriously if you hop from company to company every few years. They just don't. \n\nGet paid by the load....., example last week I did 2 runs.\nrun no 1,\nCamarillo, CA to O'Fallon, MO A total of 2,144 miles (including deadhead)\npay $4,800.00\nrun no 2,\nEarth City, MO to Fargo, ND A total of 876 miles (including deadhead)\npay $2,100.00\nA grand total of $ 6,900.00 in gross sales for the week.\nnow total deductions were: $ 2,496.00\n(i.e.: Fuel (840), Commission (690), Insurance (156), Trailer rental (120), misc [bobtail,occupancy,ups4paperwork,DEF,,truck payment] (690)\nNow my Net was: $4,404.00\n\nThis varies week to week. sometimes it's 2 grand sometimes it's 5 grand per week. But in General on average I Net 3 grand a week. \nI can tell you that I wish someone would have told me when I started 14 years ago; \"hey make the jump it's better and you do the exact same job you are doing now.\" \nThe Exact same job with the exception of you paying your own repairs. I made the jump 3 years ago and to this day I wish I had done it 10 years sooner then that. \n\nstay were you're at now, if you think that what I have shared with you is to much for you today. \nJump to another outfit with a bit more pennies if you feel that the company you're with isn't treating you right or they aren't running you enough. Ask your company for a review so that you can get a bit more from them. And Ask again in 3 months. persistent pays off. All they can say is not right now or give you a bump in pay. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. \nBut Ask tons of questions so that you can become aware of what's out there. Don't let the negativity that others share with you hold you back. The money is out there, you just have to take responsibility. \n\nGood luck, keep rolling and be safe out there..\nmy YouTube channel, should you what to check it out.\nwwwnetryder","replyToPid":0}

","text":"I’ve found that what you need is to feel respected, appreciated and taken care of. Not because they say so, you feel it. If you stay with them long, the money will be less of an issue. I think you’ll find however that the larger (training companies) aren’t what you’ll want but most Mom & Pop’s place can’t insure you till around you’re 2 year anniversary with nothing on you’re record. \n\nIf that doesn’t work out and you don’t mind being out even more, go solo, under someone’s else’s authority at first. I do recommend buying your own trailer as soon as you can if that’s the case, it’s worth ten percent of load. Huge profits possible. ","replyToPid":390418}
