{"text":"Daylight savings time began at 2:00 am local time Sunday, March 8th. And every year, it starts a debate on the necessity of time change. As truckers, it really doesn’t bother us that much, as we are constantly working different hours to meet appointment times, or best utilize hours of service, etc. \n\nBut certain states and territories have opted out of the law that is run under the DOT. Guam, Samoa, Hawaii, Alaska, & Arizona will stay on Standard time. Some states are attempting to pass bills that would request to opt out of the law. Washington is waiting on approval to remain on standard time, and New Jersey has legislation to remain on Daylight Savings Time. \n\nI foresee a problem if the states are allowed to opt out. It can be difficult enough to calculate a trip plan going thru several time zones, and adding in the question of is the receiver’s local time different than it’s time zone will only complicate the process. \n\nI am for removing Daylight Savings time from the Federal Law before too many states opt out. Life out here can be difficult, why make things worse?\n","videos":"[]","link":"{}","pics":"[]","canComment":true,"externalShare":false} |
