{"replyTo":"","text":"Some advice:\n1. Keep your truck clean inside and out. It can help with DOT inspections\n2. BATHE. Showers are free with a fuel purchase. Love’s and Pilot/Flying J even have points programs that guarantee a shower EVERYDAY. Use them. No one wants to smell someone before they even see them. It’s just disgusting. \n3. You may get load assignments on a peoplenet/Qualcomm device or your phone. Buy a load assignment book too. Having a hard copy is beneficial if something happens to your devices. \n4. Keep pens and paper on hand. You’ll need them more than you realize. \n5. YOU drive that truck. Not your company. Not your fleet manager. Not your dispatcher. YOU do. NEVER let anyone guilt you or pressure you into driving when you are tired, sick, or out of hours. \n6. Remember that your log is your log. NO ONE can legally change your status without letting you know. The drive line CANNOT be changed by anyone. \n7. When your day is over and it’s time to rest do just that. GET YOIR SLEEP! If you want to watch an hour or two if tv that’s cool. But don’t you dare get behind the wheel of that vehicle unless you have slept. \n8. Try cooking most of your own meals. It’s cheaper and you can control what’s going in your body. \n9. Prepare for winter weather. Extra clothes, water, blankets, etc. a breakdown in sub zero weather is a recipe for disaster if you aren’t prepared. \n10. TAKE YOUR TIME. This is not a race track out here. Learn what your equipment can and can’t do. Don’t try to make it do things it just can’t do. Don’t worry about other drivers. Take your time backing, in inclement weather, and in parking lots/truck stops. I would rather wait a few extra minutes on you to back than have you tear my hood off. \n11. GOAL Get. Out. And. Look. And NEVER be afraid to ask for help. We are all out here trying to do a rather tough job. Hopefully we all still will help our fellow drivers. \n\nBest of luck. ","replyToPid":0}
