{"replyTo":"","text":"Swift loves student drivers because they make the money. You can figure that every student is worth about $40,000 in federal money. More if it is for former military. 20 for training and 20 for hiring the first full year. When I drove for them, they were going through 26000+ students a year. Even with all the accidents, you have to figure a hundred million dollars is a pretty good chunk of change. All the majors do the same thing, none of them are doing this out of the goodness of their heart. When I was working for them, at one point the company average experience was just over seven months. We had a core of drivers who stayed but the turnover was 110% per year. Drivers we're not finishing out there full year. Swift recruits hard. They use print, radio and billboard advertisements. They hit every recruiting fair and job fair that you can name. The unemployment offices refer people to Swift if they're interested in a trucking job. As much as we like to pick on them, drivers have to start somewhere. They're no worse than any of the other major carriers. They are just the largest domestically or used to be. *stepping off soap-box to sound of crickets*","replyToPid":0} |
