803190 发表于 2019-12-29 14:24:41 Which honestly makes me wonder what compels people to stay with Werner, for example, for 3million miles. They only raise pay by .01 every 10 months. Doesn’t make sense to me when you can go to a company like Walmart after 2-3 years experience and make 85k starting.

Also most companies offer referral bonus and drivers don’t believe when told they can be making more money. \n\nWhen I 1st started with crst 1st thing orientation guy said was grass is greener on the other side but when you go there you see it’s not. Well from that alone I did look into other companies and was gone in 6 months for almost double the pay. \n\nTruck drivers are lazy. And yes 22 years driving and I will admit I’m lazy to a point. ","text":"Ahh gotcha I appreciate your feedback. No contact here and already paid for the Roadmaster bill. \n\nLooking at Walmart mainly for the pay but I do hear both positive feedback and complaints about driving for them even though their drivers are truly earning 80+ a year.\n\nEither a high paying van hauling career or looking into hazmat endorsement for fuel tanker hauling, but the pay doesn’t seem to very good unless you get with a few specific companies that don’t really advertise looking for drivers.\n\nI know I have a lot of experience to earn before looking at a major switch but trying to research as much as I can in the meantime.","replyToPid":292819}

","text":"Crete is best paying dry van right now. Heartland express is 2nd. \n\nI drive for heartland because no equipment older then 3 years. (I have had 4 brand new trucks in 3.5 years. It’s like I get a new truck every year love it). \n\nAlso Crete micro manages you and has cameras. Where heartland refuses to put cameras on their trucks. We are not allowed to use dash cams unless it’s part of our gps (ty garmin). \n\nHeartland starting pay is .42 a mile with only 6 months xp. Only goes up with the more xp you have. Currently I’m at .52 home every other weekend western region fleet. ","replyToPid":292992}

","text":"Solid feedback man thank you.\n\nI started at .38 with Werner but it went up to .39 at 6 months and then to .41 at 10 months in. Then goes up 1 penny every 10 months after that.\n\nI guess I’ll just stick it out until I can migrate to something paying closer to where you’re at.\n\n.52 @ 2800mi/week @ 52 weeks a year is about 75000 that rate isn’t doing too bad at all definitely much closer to my income goal. Long term want to breach that 80k mark.\n\nBtw when you say cams at Crete do you mean inward viewing cams? Or just the normal outward facing cams in case of collision?"}

","text":"Driver facing cams. Have a friend that works local for them. He got a warning for speeding made him go otr with a trainer for 10 days and put a camera facing him and the road for 6 months. Mind you he has 14 years driving xp. The trainer they put him with had 3 years......\n\nYa no thanks not worth the extra pay. \n\nMy pay would be .55 if I went otr for heartland. But I like being home every other weekend instead of monthly. I have a 4 year old. I did try doing home every weekend just not enough miles and drops your pay a couple of pennies so I’m happy right in the middle. \n\nNot many options where I live. Montana. Though I do get good miles to and from the house plus I get to take truck home. ","replyToPid":293012}

","text":"One thing you have to keep in mind. It’s all about xp. The more you have the better pay you get. One thing nobody tells you is once you hit 10 years it don’t matter. I have 22 years xp. Every company I have called said they only count the last 10 years that’s it. It’s federal law apparently. So you come into a company with 10 years then you will need to work for that company for 10 more years to be at the cap for that company. Each company has a different cap btw. \n\nSo find a good company early in your career this way you can max out your pay. I’m still 6.5 years away from max pay at heartland. \n\nJust like with Werner you will max out in pay eventually. But once you do put in the time there you are sort of stuck there unless you are willing to take a pay cut because of that 10 year thing. \n\nDo not forget about the benefits and bonuses. They mean a ton when it comes to your pay. \n\nLike you said about working for Walmart. Problem with Walmart is they have way to many rules. A year or 2 back Walmart removed all the benefits for their drivers. Lots of drivers quit because of it. They brought back some of the benefits tried calling back those drivers most said no because they don’t want to risk losing benefits again. Also if fuel price becomes an issue again Walmart will be one of the 1st companies to close their doors. Trucking end of it that is. When we went through the diesel hike Walmart was 1 week away from closing their doors then prices came back down. I want job security Walmart doesn’t offer that. They treat their drivers just like their employees at the store. Crap","replyToPid":293012}
