I know you thought she was a stray because she looked scared and pregnant and hungry and lost and wasn't wearing a collar and I so very much appreciate you giving her food and water, I know she did too, it was hot that day. But here's what you don't know...She isn't a stray and in fact is very much loved and missed by my 9 year old autistic son. She was born in his bedroom closet to my dog who is no longer with us so she is all that I have left of my Skyebaby. She is my son's best friend, his emotional support, who he closes himself in his room with and cuddles with when life becomes to much to bear. She walked with us to his bus stop every morning and waited patiently on the front porch for the bus to return him to her every afternoon and would run to him as soon as the bus dropped him off. She wasn't wearing a collar because she would never keep one on longer than a week. She's managed to escape more than 20 collars in the almost 2 years of her life. She wandered to the truck stop from our home following my oldest son, sneaking behind him because she knew she wasn't supposed to be leaving our yard. When she lost sight of him, she followed his scent into the store. She wasn't lost, she was looking for a family member she thought might be lost. That's where you and a couple of kind, helpful, dog loving humans who work at love's came in. You gave her food and water and I know she was grateful and so am I. The ladies who work there told me that you were concerned that calling animal control would end with her being put down because she's a pit bull and that you get lonely on the road and could use the company. I called every shelter in middle Georgia every day to see if she had been brought in. I visited in person every day that my work schedule allow. I posted her picture on craigslist, my personal Facebook page and every lost animal facebook page in Georgia. I've looked through thousands of found dog pictures hoping I would see her. I thought I had found her a couple of times but they turned out not to be her. When I finally had someone contact me and describe her to a tee, down to the bald spot above her tail, I finally felt that spark of hope, I had a better idea of where to.direct my search. So I started posting her picture in truck driver groups, begging drivers to put a call out on the radio. I keep hoping someone will hear about this and know you or see you and then you'll contact me and bring her home. I'm sure she's had her puppies by now and you can have all of them if you want, we just want her back, my son needs her back. Every day he comes home and the first thing he does is ask if I have found her and the crestfallen look on his face when I have to tell him no, the tears streaming down his face when he asks if he's ever going to see her again and I have to say I don't know, is breaking my heart a little more every time. I tried to tell him how much fun I just know she's having getting to ride around in your truck all the time because she loves to ride. That doesn't help though, he just makes me promise to take her riding more when we find her and of course it's a promise I'm more than happy to make and keep. All he wanted for Christmas was a hoverboard. That was before his dog dissapeared. Now all he wants is his best friend back. He's going to tell Santa about it when he sees him in a couple weeks. Yes, he still believes in Santa. This would be the first time Santa ever disappointed him and I'm not ready to take away the magic of Christmas for my last son just yet.
