Some of my old vets in OTR telling me to buy used trucks and most of them go thru repairs and sit without a job these days. my vision is to buy brand new and cough for payments and work none stop for 12 month. What yall input on this?-Im healthy i work out during longer loads/unloads. Prepare my own food for OTR. Excellent credit history. Pre approved for brand new truck. You cannot take the chance of funding those repairs on your own. Yes, you will have them. Also, you must have downtime insurance to help cover revenue loss! Must have!! You couldn't give me a new truck! Personally, I'd go buy a mid 90's 379EXHD, or a W900L. Zero depreciation, excellent build quality, and parts a plenty! Financing may be more difficult, but that's what credit unions are for. unless you have your own deal, stay away from dry vans. {"replyTo":"","text":"do not buy a new truck they will break down also in a couple years and the dealership still tried it get out at covering warranty which doesn't cover labor so even if you bought a almost new truck for $80,000 and in two years you got half of it paid off then it starts breaking down and you'll have the truck payment plus the repairs you don't want to start a business with a lot of debt. you're not really making any money that way all you're doing is paying off your loan.   the goal is to make as much money off of that truck after it's paid off. my trucks lease Dawn and I had quite a bit of repairs but really it's just from bad mechanic jobs wherever I took it they have rental trucks for $700 a week which wasn't bad. I seen one of the RTI commercials in a guy did a lease purchase which you do not want to do and he got the truck paid off cuz he probably didn't have a family or life and soon as he paid it off he's getting another brand new truck in RTI was buying up his truck for $20,000. that's stupid when that trucks paid off he should just keep running it. what's the point of selling off your truck for 20 grand when your truck payments are going to be about $32,000 a year. he's better off keeping that truck and running at least 2 years free consider selling it. when you buy an older truck you can write off the depreciation over 3 years. don't forget the high cost of the physical damage insurance on an expensive truck compared to 20 30 thousand dollar truck also remember a 2030 thousand-dollar truck is a lower risk compared to an $80,000 truck you can run a $20,000 truck for 5 months straight and then if you have a major problem you can decide if you just want to go buy another truck.","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"I disagree with all the above, buy a new truck, the warranty alone is worth it, don't buy a Pete, kw, or ws, get a Freightliner they are cheaper, Better fuel mileage, more maneuverable, most come with 750k warranties, if it is warranty work or recall work you dont pay labor costs if you take it to Freightliner, preventative maintenance is key. If you have a good credit rating, MVR, and low CSA your insurance will be cheaper, your truck payment will be cheaper. Then run smart stay around 65 mph better fuel mileage, ","replyToPid":0}
