{"replyTo":"","text":"When I was a teen in the late 90’s one of my friends got his first car-a second hand Toyota Camery. He would come pick me up after school for a joy ride. Now, a ride like this often involved ridiculous speeding on streets, knocking over trash cans set to the side of the road, and pulling the parking brake going around a curve. One time we went for a ride with another friend from school. My pal had discovered a street going down a hill that had a railroad grade crossing halfway down that effectively made it a ramp. So here we go, I’m in the front passenger seat bucked up, our bud from school is setting in the back, no seatbelt. He held on to the back seat he was sitting on to try to hold himself down. We must have hit that grade crossing doing at least 60. The car went airborne, and as it began to fall, I saw him hit the ceiling so hard that it almost turned him sideways. The car landed on the street with a loud crash and sent sparks flying out from behind, it gave us a hard jolt too. But Kevin in the back got the worst of it, turns out the back seat was not bolted down as it should have been. So the whole seat came up & pinned him to the ceiling for a split second. \n\nWe had a good laugh over it. But looking back on that time, knowing what I know now, it’s a wonder we all survived to adulthood. ","replyToPid":0} |
