{"replyToPid":0,"replyTo":"","text":"Get a 55 inch Hustler whip antenna from Amazon or Ebay. It's the original trucker antenna going back to the 70s. If you want good long distance reception you need a whip. 5ft or larger. If you just need local reception within 5-10 miles a Firestick antenna with No Ground Plane kit is the way to go. Especially if you're driving a newer fiberglass truck."}

{"replyTo":"","text":"Coils of any sort are very lossy and your performance will suffer.\nI run a 102\" SS Whip and high quality mounts that I bought from Bob's C.B. at exit 70 off I-80 in Pa.\nI use Times Microwave LMR Dual shielded coax and have zero issues hearing, or being heard, even when I run low power.\nI drive a 2018 Cascadia and have all body parts bonded to the frame with 1\" flat, tinned copper braided ground strap. If you're driving a fiberglass body truck I would not suggest bypassing this critical step to assure peak performance.","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"one will ALWAY work better than two . more does not mean better . if you want two because it look good . than do it but only hook up one. think of it like a garden hose .  if you take 1 hose and split it off into 2 hoses  you will lose pressure at the end of both hoses.  the best out put and receive is with 1 antenna.  and set your SWR's if you don't do this or have it done you out put and receive  will be in the dirt.  having the SWR's set is not expensive  it is about 30 bucks at a cb radio shop and about 30min tops.","replyToPid":0}

{"replyToPid":0,"replyTo":"","text":"Two reasons dual antenna and it has nothing to do with transmitting.\n\nDual configuration receives incoming signals stronger from the rear and front of the vehicle.   Downside is reception either side is denigrated, however, Truckers are primarily concerned with signals ahead and behind. \n\nTransmitting:  DO NOT USE \"T\" splitter. This will damage your radio. If powering BOTH antennas, you must use co-phased RG-59 CB coax cable.\n\nMinimum distance apart is 5 feet. \n\nI'm old school. Cold War vet, comms guy. Good luck.\n\nBtw, using the appropriate cables, both antennas transit the same power. Rubbish that some think otherwise."}
