{"replyTo":"","text":"honestly, look for honesty, willingness to communicate, and a good csa rating. usually those things add up to good companies. you also need to learn to filter bs, because every company has a small level of it. may told me over the phone they were governed at 68 and that was a definite lie. covenant told me that I would get to drive solo... 97% of covenant drivers are team. \n\nalso, look at the pay. most of the time, the pay they tell you is conditional. some companies advertise 42-45 cpm, but that's only if you have certain endorsements, and only after you complete training. \n\nif you can find a company with a decent rating and guaranteed daily minimums, take it. I've seen crst paychecks that added up to about 300 a week and that's with a lot of hard driving. dont fall for that trap. retention pay and daily minimums are a must these days, with all the time that shippers and consignees are keeping truckers waiting around, plus winter shutdowns up north.\n\nif you can get 35k+ a year, that sounds low to some drivers, especially team drivers, but that's 100 bucks a day, give or take a few days.\n\nalso, HOME TIME. a lot of companies dont like it when you take home time, even when you've earned the paid time off. sorry, but if I want to do six weeks out and I've earned 6 days off, I'll take 6 days if that's what I want to do, and I dont want to hear any griping about it.","replyToPid":0} |
