{"text":"I did a fast quite some time back. It was not with health in mind, but a period of prayer and fasting with members of our church. I can't remember the length, but I never fully fasted for any amount of time as I always ended up eating something small each day. I did keep up the prayer each day, though....\n\nFast forward to this week, and I decided to do a fast. I have been looking into different methods of detoxing, and chose this rather than taking any kind of pills. \n\nHow long am I doing this? My initial goal is to make it three full days (72 hours). I'm officially 24 hours into it now. At the three day mark, from what I am reading, the hunger becomes less of an issue as you enter into a really deep state of Ketosis. Your body is literally feeding off it's own fat. If I feel well at 3 days, I will stretch it to 5 days. My hope is to extend this out to a full 7 days (Wednesday evening to Wednesday evening), at which point I will not go any further. \n\nA few things I want to accomplish. Detox, as I mentioned above. Weight loss. I have hit a bump in the road in regards to weight loss (30 pounds), and I think it has to do with toxins in my body. \n\nFinally, cravings. Again, from what I have read, an extended fast tends to reset your palate. In other words, the brain will no longer have you craving foods you don't need to be eating. For me, it has always been high carb meals such as Pizza and burgers/fries. I've been doing pretty well with a Ketogenic Diet for a couple months now, but the cravings are still there, and sometimes they take over and win. \n\n24 hours in, and surprisingly, the hunger hasn't been a really big deal. Not gonna lie, my stomach has been growling at times, but it goes away. \n\nWhile fasting, here is the liquids I am consuming:\n\ncoffee and water. That's it. I wanted to not drink coffee either, but didn't want both hunger and a caffeine withdrawals to fight at the same time. \n\nI am adding Lyte Balance and Apple Cider Vinegar to my water. The first to provide me the necessary electrolytes, the second to help with the detox process.","pics":"[]","canComment":true} |
