{"replyTo":"","text":"Cats are normally good motors it depends on which C15 it is. If it’s a twin turbo Ascert I’d stay away if it’s a 6NZ / 2WS / 5EK then you should be good just do your maintenance every 10k miles and you should be fine.","replyToPid":0}

","text":"Yes I bought it. 06 KW with Cat C15. 2 weeks ago my western star caught fire doing regen. burnt to ground. I debated about buying another new truck. I decided to buy older truck.","replyToPid":486026}
{"replyTo":"","text":"I have been running cats engines most of my 42 years out here and always had great luck with them, they are million miles plus engines uf you service them regularly and run the overhead every year, my 05 pete went over 1.3 million and I only overhauled it because the headgasket started leaking and I have about 475000 on this inframe.","replyToPid":0}
{"replyTo":"","text":"All the c-15 (if in decent shape) will out last any engine you can buy nowadays. Thee 6nz is the most robust a revised and reliable. bigger oil cooler heavy cam shaft ect. The c15 accert which are the last models. bxs, mxs, nxs has emissions embedded in the head via VVA = variable valve actuators which equals trouble! But if well maintained will out last Cummings x15 or paccar mx 13 or dd series Detroit .","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"You’ll never know unless you get the oil tested for metal particles. Get the head pressure tested. And borescope the cylinders to check the crosshatching. Maybe drop the pan and check the sump for bearings. Check the crank for slap. Either way plan on $50k for an inframe and get an Insane Diesel Bypass Oil filter.","replyToPid":0}

","text":"Why did it burn? fuel leak on exhaust? or did a technician reset ash count on d.p.f. but not really clean or bake it?\nThose are the only reasons they burn the truck down. I have heard too many lazy mechanics. Just reset Ash to get it out of low power mode and get lights to turn off. That ash builds up and has to be baked off, or eventually, it will start on fire.","replyToPid":486029}
