Spoke to a couple Owner Operators and they stated just to stay as a company driver.\n\nOn the flip side, IF I do get the truck up and going, how hard is it to line up my own customers?","videos":"[]","link":"{}","pics":"[]","canComment":true,"externalShare":false}
{"replyTo":"","text":"I agree with other drivers. Stay company driver. Being a owner operator has Many challenges and problems. To start with operating costs. Today's truck have numerous issues with def system. My truck is 3 years old. My def one box went bad. That was a 22k repair. My warranty covered thankfully. But I still have def issues. That come up. Fuel is crazy expensive. As everyone is aware. In my 40 years of trucking. I've had brokers not paid me. Because they went out of business or bankrupt. Everyone knows how dishonest brokers are. I have my own customers. That I can count on paying me. But occasionally I use brokers for back haul. I now run credit checks on ALL brokers. To insure I don't get cheated again. You need to do your research before jumping out on your own. You need at least 20k for operating costs. Fuel,tags,insurance, taxes,repairs. If you don't have it. Don't make that jump. This my opinion after all these years of doing this.","replyToPid":0}

You can choose your own loads or have them do it for you then you get less of her percent percentage, you can do least to own or least to lease. You can get your feet wet and have something to fall back on. If you stay a little while pay off your truck learn the ropes then again, you have something to fall back on Road Runner is another good one not as much as support and a lot of big companies have their own lease programs Lease is kind of in the middle. You should probably start with that before you go full owner op you’re not completely company but you’re not completely independent and you get paid more. Bottom line is more risk more pay. You can be rewarded immensely or end up in a big hole, depends how you play your cards, it’s all about balance and how you operate .","replyToPid":0}
