Please Help with split sleeper berth

{"text":"We don't have the rule down but we are in a situation where it could really help us and get us to families for Thanksgiving and be the deal breaker. \n\nThe big question is can we make our 1:30 a.m. appointment.\n\nWe are 3 hours and 15 minutes away.\n\nOur day started  11/16 at 0400\n\nCurrently 11/16 1900\n\nHave been in Sleeper Berth for 4hrs 32min, started at 1430\n\nHad about 2.5 hrs left on drive and 3.5 left on shift when went into sleeper berth. \n\nWe have the Split sleeper Berth toggle switch but it's off right now, if it's turned on does it immediately start or can it be turned back off? \n\nA tutorial said it needs to be more than 2 less than 7, so what happens if we wait 7 and then toggle switch? Will we lose it? Do we flip it before? Husband is trying to get a few hours sleep so don't want to flip it and try if it starts counting down 🤣. Too stressed over this week to think clearly, and trying to get to elderly parents house in time has been stressful. Also don't completely understand some of these little things. {"replyTo":"","text":"A split requires 2 parts. A 7/8 and a 2/3 but must equal 10 hours. Essentially the time you used before the long part of the split you should get back. You must complete the long part in sleeper berth aka the 7 or 8 hour and the other part can be 1 hour sleeper and 1 or 2 hours off duty. You will then get back what you haven’t used in a 24 hour period. That’s essentially how it works. Can be confusing. \n\nWhen you do a split the switch must be activated at the first break of the split whether it’s the 2/3 or the 7/8. If you haven’t already checked it then you won’t be completing the first half and would only split the 7/8 which if you only had 2.5 hours drive it’ll freeze and give you that back. You won’t however complete the 10. Also note that you leave that switch checked until you complete a full 10 hour reset or it can cause issues. ","replyToPid":0}

The hours have to equal two breaks that give considerable rest.. adding up to 10 hours.\n\nI’m not sure what switch you’re talking about. I have a Qualcomm. \n\nLooks like you’re set to get 4.5 hours back (14:30-19:00=4.5). So according to the math you gave me… barring any bad accidents or stopped traffic / construction… you guys should just be able to make the 3 hours & 15 mins to park up for your drop off. When you said if we wait more than 7 the DOT won't consider it sufficient, but I think in this scenario we would be doing the long break part first, so I'm def hoping we'll get 4.5 hours back, does that happen exactly 7 hours after we went off duty or do we need to go on duty before that 7 hours? {"replyTo":"","text":"when i split, a seven hour break will work as a pause break. i don't know of its supposed to work that way but i can run a whole series of splits after my pause and each one after the pause returns the unused portion equivalent to 10. to my eyes there's no more pause. 7 to 8 hours will work as a pause break. after 8 hours you'll see your clock will start to wind down again until you get to the 10 hour reset. that's how my qc works. i like my splits. i like naps.","replyToPid":0}

","text":"1st break pause. if you go over 8  hours starts the 14 hour clock running on any break. you can back to back two long sleepers as a split. 7/7 or 8/7 and that still works. but anything over 8 starts the 14 hour clock running until you hit that 10 hour mark.","replyToPid":477868}
