How does insurance for a rental truck work?

{"text":"I have had two insurance agents, the first time I rented a semi from Penske, my agent just added the rental truck in the insurance certificate and I was good to go, no extra charge. I only rented the truck for 3 days.\n\nI have since switched agents and I rented the truck for a month. This agent had me purchase insurance for a second vehicle for the remainder of my policy, which is 4 months. I had to put $3k down and my monthly premium went up to $3k, which I have already paid two months. I have since returned the rental, but I am still waiting on an answer to where all that money went.
