{"replyTo":"","text":"you have to know what you make or you just spinning your wheels and will go bankrup by making everyone money but you.\nsteps:\nwhat is the fuel cost?\nhow many miles per gallon your truck gets?\n(5mpg @ $5/gal = costs $1 per mile to run truck)\nif you are booking loads @ $1.55/mile, you are better off driving for someone else and not waste your time. you will get .55/mi and no expenses and repair bills.\n\n$1000 for 580 mi run\n$1000 pay minus $580 to fuel truck = $420\n$420÷14 (hours on shift) = $30/hr\n(then you have to ha e repairs, oil change every 15k miles, occasional tire, etc)\n\nhave to look at average rate per mile @ end of week/month/quarter/year\n\nwithout a smart dispatcher or at least one that works for you as if you were his truck he is running, impossible to survive. \n\nI drove, then went and became a dispatcher (6-15 trucks dispatched daily) then became an operations manager (150 trucks) then got a truck, now I know how to dispatch, run back office and know which areas to send the truck and which areas to never touch.
