{"replyTo":"","text":"I prefer ‘no jake’ and ‘no cruise’ on heavy rain, fog, ice, snow, etc. and to keep it slower (of course) but utilize downshifting to remain in control at all times. Also good for ramps. Why? Downshifting requires more planning in reducing speed so your awareness is more keen as a driver. Also, when taking downgrades get into being in a proper low gear at the top of a hill whereby it is not necessary to tap the brakes at all but utilizing only the 2/4/6 cylinder jake button to regulate your speed and rpm’s within a 5 mph window. Think of your jake as a secondary back up option or an assist to your professional driving skills that you develop. Never really a good idea to slow from highway speeds to a complete stop with service brakes because of wear on brakes, and the need to have ‘fresh’ braking power in emergency while already slowing. Fir example taking a ramp, you are already braking, but the a car suddenly slows or stops, you need full air pressure and cool brakes for maximum response, and utilizing your gear downshifting method as primary way to slow down greatly helps you stay safe and alert as you preplan your vehicle operating.","replyToPid":0} |
