I used to bring the tandems as far forward as I could and be legal. But that big ole gator tail makes it WAY harder. It's counterintuitive but put the tandems at 40 feet and leave em there unless you need to move them to stay legal. \nTo fix oversteer, put your hand at 12 o'clock on the wheel, and wrap your thumb around the wheel so it touches your fingers 🤜🏻. You will be unable to oversteer if you keep your thumb locked. \nIf you're getting mixed up on which way the trailer is going to go, you can steer from the bottom of the wheel. Then the trailer moves the same way as the wheel. I personally don't like that way because I think of things in terms of pushing the front end of the trailer around a pivot point. But other guys have said that helped them\n YMMV🤷🏻♂️. And as always GOAL. That's saved me a bunch.\nAlso in the early days I found putting my tandems all the way to the rear and then doing a 90 was easier for me personally. Again, YMMV.\nDon't get discouraged. It's takes EFFORT and it takes THOUGHT. I remember when I got serious about improving my parking, I just sat there and THOUGHT about all the ways the various pieces move in relation to each other and in response to the wheel. Some people are naturals. Some people have to work at it. But if you are willing to really work at it and you keep GOALing every. single. time. you aren't 200% sure, you'll make it. You'll take forever, but every one of those guys waiting on you has had to learn like you. Nobody was born knowing how to back. Don't worry about them. Stay focused. Becoming distracted by them is only going to make it take longer. Always, have 100% of your mind on the task at hand.\nAnd one day you'll realize it's not taking as long\n And soon you'll realize the thought of backing doesn't bother you.\nAnd eventually... You might even start to enjoy it."} |
