{"text":"So my recently purchased Freightliner truck came with “optimized idling,” which turns the engine automatically on/off to maintain a desired temperature. I’m fairly new to it, but I’m trying to see if a diesel APU is still worth it. It will cost $12,700 (total) to install a brand new Thermo King APU, which I have scheduled for next week. I also happen to know how to maintain/repair the APU. The oil change interval on the APU has been moved from 1,000 to 2,000 hrs, so less work and time to maintain the APU.\n\nIt seems as if the diesel APU might still be worth it because the truck regular maintenance schedule will need to be shortened due to an increase in engine hours. Also, some truck parts may last less time (from increased engine hrs) like the fuel pump, fuel injectors, increased oil leaks, water pump, etc. \n\nYour thoughts?","videos":"[]","link":"{}","pics":"[]","canComment":true,"externalShare":false} |
