{"replyToPid":0,"replyTo":"","text":"To my knowledge, the Thermo King APU is the most common diesel APU out there. The Carrier brand should still be okay, but because the TK APU is more popular, you’ll find more repair/maintenance videos on YouTube than on the Carrier brand. Also, the inverter isn’t exactly part of the TK brand. You can tell them to put one that’s got 3000 watts if you wanted one.\n\nFrankly, it’s kind of pointless to put a 5,000 or even 3,000 watt inverter when the APU cannot supply that kind of power for a minute. The 1800 watt inverter will easily run a 600 watt microwave, an electric kettle, and a fridge, although not all at the same time. Again, the 5,000 watts may allow you to run all of these at the same time, but it’ll be for under a minute because the APU cannot supply that much power continuously. Having the truck engine idling will do better than the APU, but it also has its limits.\n\nWhatever inverter you end up going with, try to get a “pure sine” inverter. They’re supposed to be better, I’ve been told."} |
