{"text":"So, I’ve been driving for swift for 2 years. I know, I know, I don’t need to hear the swift talk. There are a lot of them that don’t need to be behind the wheel of a semi. I was raised on 80+ acres of land and can operate just about anything. I was in a tough spot after my job in the coal mines got slow and truck broke down so I needed something fast. I’ve never been in an accident. Never backed into anyone. ANYWAY, I’m about to leave and drive for a buddy back home in East Tx. Any advice on 1099 when it comes to TAXES. I’ve always dealt with W-2.","videos":"[]","link":"{}","pics":"[]","canComment":true,"externalShare":false}

1006708 发表于 2021-06-13 16:18:20 I’m a 10-99 company driver for a place out of Chicago. Best thing I can tell you is to find a good CPA in your area that knows what their doing when filing. Also, depending on what the expected gross income is, that is how you’ll figure out your per-diem for food. Also save every receipt you get for things you pay for and yes that includes food. When it’s time to file you’ll have all of them to show exactly what the purchases were for. So also get a little filing system to store those on the road.

","text":"If you work for a company and get a 10-99 instead of a W-2 most likely you’re being misclassified as an independent contractor. There are very specific criteria to meet in order to be an “independent” contractor. Companies will try and 10-99 employees to avoid paying payroll taxes, overtime, unemployment, worker’s compensation insurance on these employees. The only one that wins is the company. Mainly because the    “employee” is now responsible for the taxes that the employer isn’t paying. If a employee pays $100 in social security tax in a pay week the employer also has to pay $100 on top of the $100 the employee paid. 10-99 and now the “employee” pays $200 and the employer pays ZERO.","replyToPid":428559}
