Help me find an answer to A/C without idle

{"text":"Any input Id appreciate. I bought the truck with a carrier already in it (15 Freight).Worked fine for a bit but its been problems since then. I put a new starter and belt in it and now it wont blow cold air. Hot air works but shuts off randomly. If you just have it on without hot or cold it’ll run all night. Mechanic said it could be alternator and run me into the thousands but he’s not specialized in APU’s and said to take it to Carrier. At this point, I dont know if I should sink more money into it, just buy a new one ( looking at 8-13k) or look for an alternative. I know I dont want to idle the truck. Any suggestions?
