","text":"i actually cited the exact statute in the FCMSA that states when it is legal to run recaps on steer tires. Please state the statute that says you cannot period, not just claim your CDL test said you cannot. Many very  large fleets run recaps on steer tires on their city trucks, UPS, Fedex, and garbage haulers to name a few. Last I check they are not \"Broke\" city trucks run at a lower average speed and therefore have lower tire temps than OTR trucks do.","replyToPid":398447}

","text":"If you read the statute, the weight limit only applies to regrooved tires. There is no load carrying capacity for recaps or retreads. I have not seen regrooved tires in many years.","replyToPid":398534}

Each individual state might have different regulations, but the FMCSA does not have a total ban on recaps or retreads on steer tires. I have had a class A CDL for 30 years, and was a fleet manager for almost 10 years.","replyToPid":0}
