pet with carsickness?

{"text":"i have recently adopted a gorgeous Border Collie to be my travel companion. i have some concerns about motion sickness. I informed the people i got him from that he would be spending his time with me and my students on my truck, and they assured me that he does fantastic on car rides. However, on the way to deliver the doggo to my wife at home (to wait until my hometime) they told her that he threw up on the ride. They pretty much said its the first time he ever has. Now i am concerned about him getting sick on the truck. i cant leave him at home because hes too much to handle for my wife right now as we have a 2 year old and she is currently 20 weeks pregnant and is already a \"high risk\". Has anyone ever had to deal with a car sick dog on their truck? {"replyTo":"","text":"Car rides and truck rides are vastly different for animals. I’d suggest just giving it a try and see how the little guy does. My guess is they’ll be fine. Initially you can put down puppy pads just in case, you can also limit food and water before the first trip to see how they handle it. ","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"our aussie is on the road since he was 8 weeks old and doing way better in a big rig than with me in a pick up truck. hes over a year now. im thinking thats because he has more room and options where he wants to sit or lay down, or hide in the back when he's tired looking out the window. when you get home- spend some time with the dog playing, walking, feeding, so your pet gets to know you better, trusts you and feels confident around you. getting used to the new owner and new environment can very stressful. i think your doggo will be ok being on the road with you, just give it time","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"I would call your vet as they can help you out with the car sickness. \nI've had 3 different dogs in my last 33yrs on driving  Blue Heeler,  Border collie x blue Heeler and now a Red Heeler.  these are high energy dogs . and extremely I intelligent.. \npuppy pads are a must and alot of chew toys to keep him busy.  just remember that the turbo might scare him. or he might try to nip at the air when goin under a low bridge..\ngood luck. or yes make sure you have his Rabies Cert on you when you are traveling","replyToPid":0}
