What positives do we gain after shifting to ELDs?

What I mean by that is every time that they are in a traffic jam for two hours they only get paid the mile they covered, or at a shipper for four hours they have to only get two hours pay for detention. The ELD actually proves how much work a driver does every day, and all company drivers should demand to be paid for all work that they are doing. We’ve been taught to cheat our logs in order to save time to drive. That only benefits the carrier, because they are only willing to pay us by the mile. Any of you that have been falsely logging duty status due to not being paid for the time that you work, you need to get an attorney and file for all the hours you’ve sat at a shipper/receiver, in traffic, at a weigh station, or any other non driving but working time. That also includes safety meetings, and other company required visits. Even when you’re broke down you are still working!! The ELD proves ALL TIME WORKED!!!!"}

The tort system is broken and doesn't lean towards the driver. \nThe best way to handle detention time is to not go to that shipper anymore. Screw me once and I'm done with them.\nthese days there's lots of places online to find out what a shipper is like and how long they take to load and unload trucks before you even agreed to take the load for them."}

","text":"That's a good way to look at it. I'm a newer driver, so I've only known what it's like with elds, but I hear lots of drivers hating it. I'm independent, but the company I'm contracting with had a safety meeting for all the drivers, so I had to be there, and I was the only driver that already uses an eld, and they were giving them instructions on it and all that good stuff and you would've thought they were told that they were being fired, they were all in there super upset.","replyToPid":261629}

Yeah you could make more money and get more loads but you got run ragged to do so. And with some companies you didn't run illegal on paper well then you started getting shit on. I make plenty of money on ELD. And I never sleep 10hrs but I'm happy to relax after a good day of driving. I wish they would do away with the 34hr reset and let us drive 11hr everyday with 10hr break or let us drive 14days then take a reset. Because sometimes you end up having to do a reset in a shitty area.","replyToPid":0}
